AMT vs. Revell
Are you aware of a comparison between Revell and AMT 1949 Mercuries? I have the AMT kit and I know how it looks like, but can anyone tell me about the pros and cons of the Revell kit with respect to the AMT Mercury?

Re: AMT vs. Revell
The AMT isn't bad at all for a kit tooled in the early 60's, has a separate opening trunk, has stock roof height, will build stock or custom.
The Revell is a new tool, everything fits, the roof is already chopped, and there are a ton of custom options. AMT if you want stock, or want to chop your own top, or like vintage kits. Revell for everything else. The Revell kit is excellent.

Re: AMT vs. Revell
I love the AMT kit. I've built LOTS of them. I'd love to find a few more (cheap, because I am) to build a couple stock versions, or something a little more radical than what I've done in the past since my skills have improved a lot since the last time I built one over 10 years ago. The revell kit is very nice, but I want to build a lowrider with a so-cal feel (think mexican lowrider) with the big sunvisor, big continental kit, side skirts, maybe some side pipes, curb feelers, tuck and roll interior, you know what I mean.

Re: AMT vs. Revell
The Revell kit can be made to look almost stock...more of a very mild custom w/the whitewalls and Caddy sombreros. That's how I chose to build mine, I don't like the louvered hood or the chrome reverse wheels or the flames. I'd build it again just like this, but in jet black w/some flush rear wheel skirts.
