wheels are ugly

so my IROC's wheels are old and tarnished.
what, if anything should i use to clean them up?

they are the standard IROC wheels.
no color accents though.

(the car in my sig is photoshopped to have different wheels)

Re: wheels are ugly

If they came from the factory with a clear coat on them, then you could always use some paint stripper to remove it. Leaves you with the bare metal which you could then polish up nicely.

Re: wheels are ugly

After you strip the clear coat, just buy some metal/aluminum polish shine them up. I've always had great luck with Mother Mag & Aluminum Polish.

You can respray them with clear. Most people don't because it dulls polished finish. But If you leave them polished with no clear coat they will become a pain to keep clean. That's why I sold my C5 rims. I could never keep them looking good for more than a week. If you do get them resprayed with clear, I would suggest you take it to a paint shop to have done. Couldn't cost that much and the results would be alot better than that of a spray can job.

Re: wheels are ugly

Standard gloss clear should be fine. I don't think wheels get hot enough to go after high temp. You could also check Eastwood. They seem to have a coating for everything.
