How long does it last?
Does enamel paint expire? I want to start working on my model collection but its been almost 2 years since I last used my paints. The colours all sit at the bottom of the jars with a clear fluid at the top. A good mix fixes that but will it still be good to use or its time for them to go?

Re: How long does it last?
I have previously had this occur. In my experiene the solid colours were fine after remixing, though you may need to add some thinner. The metallics were a bit "hit and miss", some working well and others thrown away. Best of luck!

Re: How long does it last?
I made a paint mixer out of a micro drill that came with an old star trek kit I had years ago. I just used a straight pin with the pointy part in the drill, and bent the other end at 90 degrees, shaped the rest of the pin so it would be in balance when it spins now I use paint that is 10 years old with no problem. a little lacquer thinner usually livens the paint right up.

I use a Tamiya mixing stick with the spoon side cut off. I even have a mini mic stand that can hold my dremel so that I can just let it sit there and mix for a good 10 minutes without me having to look after it.As for the paints.. unless they have completely dried out... I think that a bit of thinner will fix just about everything.

Re: How long does it last?
Is it normal for metalic paints to bubble up? The gold paint I have from Revell is firstly quite solid, more like a thick gel, and after storing it for a few days, there's a "bubble" of clear gel that somehow is forced up and through the side of the lid (even though it's on pretty tight), and it solidifies. I've tried adding some thinner to it but it always happens. Any ideas/help?

Re: How long does it last?
If you want a good build up with trouble free paints, I'd buy some new ones if the old ones are dried up. I was just stating that all is not lost when it comes to being in a pinch with old paints.
