1997 Grand Prix 3.8 Fuel Delivery Issue

Issue: Driving down the road, car starts to shake and just stops running. After it sits for awhile it starts running again. I was rear ended a few days before this started happening, which leads me to believe the impact damaged the fuel pump. Afterall, it is a 1997 and has 268,000 miles, but it ran perfect before the accident.
I have read that it could be simply a fuse or the fuel pump relay switch, or the fuel pump. HELP!!!!

Re: 1997 Grand Prix 3.8 Fuel Delivery Issue

Welcome to AF.

What model is this...SE, GT or GTP?

Most likely the fuel pump. Did the gas tank get damaged during the impact?

Best thing to do is run a fuel pressure check at the front fuel injector rail Schrader valve. Check pressure at fuel pump prime (ignition to ON only), at idle and with vacuum line disconnected at the fuel pressure regulator at idle.
