Re: Help needed!
Cut up a beer can?
How thin, how flexible? What are you trying to use it for?

Im looking for around just 3 or 4 times the hardness of aluminum foil maybe? I mean i hope to have substantial amount of hardness but relatively thin, like 0.1 mm thick? I will be using for some scratchbuild metal plates, bars and etc. I searched mediamixhobby and hlj but to no avail. I saw one at the stradasports website but im not sure whether its what im looking for because theres no picture. http://www.stradasportsstore.com/page119.html. Thanks! Ro

Re: Help needed!
Think outside the model box! Contact some local sheet metal vendors, I know there are some around, just gotta find them. Probably end up getting it cheaper than what you'd get it from a hobby distributor anyway.
.1mm, that's what, about the thickness of paper? You'll probably have to seek out some shimming foil for that. Contact a local machine shop, they may have the hookup on that stuff. a quick google search turned this up: http://www.britishmetrics.com/ and this page is their foil shimming page: http://www.britishmetrics.com/pdf/doc6.pdf

Re: Help needed!
FWIW, a sheet of paper is about .004" thick, or about .101mm thick.
rsxse240 makes a very good suggestion. The shim stock we use at work is fairly rigid the thicker it gets. .004 would be fairly rigid for its thickness. I know it can be purchased as thin as .0005", and I know we have it in .001", .002 & .005". Not sure what else we have. |

Thanks guys for the help!
Rsxse240 : I think i will try to look for the vendors if possible, hopefully they can offer a good price if i happen to find one! thanks again!Adam Baker : Thanks for that info, its really helpful because im actually not very sure of the rigidness for that thickness im looking for. thanks! Ro
