Ecu

After I installed my DC sports header on my 98 accord, the oxygen sensor wire came loose and rested on the header which stripped and burned the wire. I replaced the wire and Oxygen sensor but the check engine light is still on. The dealer says the computer is not giving a code because they believe when the oxygen sensor wire got stripped, it shorted out the computer therefore I need to get a new one. Is this possible? Also when I come to a stop, the car's idle drops to about 500 as though it is going to shut off then rises back to 750 and the check engine light remains on.

DC Sports Header, Greddy cat-back exhaust, AEM cold air intake.

I did reset by firstly disconnecting the battery for about 15 min, which didn't work so I then unpluged the fuse in the car on the passenger side. Still no luck.

I disconnected the battery overnight (10 hours) and about 10 seconds after I started her up the light came back on. Could the computer indeed be fried?

Wink ecu failure

Yes the computer could indeed be fried. I can explain how to test it,see if there is a refeance voltage signal from the ECU to the O/2 sensor. the sensor should have 4 wires one is refence voltage from the ECU and should carry .5 volts to the sensor.
you should get a factory service manual to perform the test correctly.
if you test incorrectly and the ECU is not fried you could fry it testing it the wrong way. you can find a factory service manual at www.helminc.com of course by the time you get the book and test it and then decide you need an ECU anyway you could have just got a used one from the wrecker for like $100 bucks and put it in and see if it fixes your problem. :frog:
