Mulit Function Switch
How difficult is it to replace the multi-function switch in an 2002 Alero GS?

Re: Mulit Function Switch
All you have to do is remove the three retaining screws holding the two plastic steering column covers. Screws are accessed from underneath and are Torx screws. Then separate the covers by pulling up on the top part. You can leave the bottom half on without removing it and the tilt lever. Then remove the one retaining screw holding the MFS and the three wiring harness connectors at the back of the switch. There is a spring loaded contact which is the horn contact to the clock spring that you have to push in on and then pull MFS up and out. When installing the replacement MFS be sure to push in on the spring loaded contact and that it seats properly on the clock spring. No more than a one hour job total time.
