Egr code comes and goes...
I guess I should say the engine light comes and goes. However, the code that comes up is the stuck egr one.The car seems to run pretty good, although a little sluggish(seperate issues).I did try to clean the egr a couple of months ago and it seemed to help.Is it possible to still have a problem with stuck egr and have the engine light come and go on any given day?
Sorry, it is a 2000 Alero with the 3.4 |

Re: Egr code comes and goes...
P0404? It may be bad electrically not mechanically so cleaning it may not help. Check the PCM low volt reference signal and output to the PCM module. The sluggish operation could be due to the stuck open EGR since exhaust gases are being pumped into the lower intake manifold when it shouldn't.

Re: Egr code comes and goes...
Thanks. I will pick up a new egr tomorrow and let everyone know the outcome.

Re: Egr code comes and goes...
Quick update, changed the egr valve out and presto the car is running much better! Much more responsive than before.
Thanks again for the help |
