Electronic Problems

Hey guys and gals, get out your electronic expertise. I am having this electronic problem where my emergency flashers dont' work, and recently my driver's side high beam went out. I changed the bulb, and it still just doesn't light up. Also, my rear defroster puts out almost no juice, and when I turn it on for any length of time, not only does it not defrost the rear window, it starts causing my car to do weird stuff, like have the check engine light come on after the key is turned off AND removed. Is there any way that all this stuff is linked, or am I just having some major electronic breakdown? Do you guys know where to start? Can you tell me any way to test for where a problem might exist?

Thanks for your help!!

first off do your turn signals work at all. If it does not light up check the fuses. There are 1 fuse for each light so THat is where I would start. If it is not the fuses then take a test light and turn on you high beams. Probe the wires in the harness and one of them should light up.

My signals do work, front and back. However, my front corners have never worked since I bought the car. I've checked all of the fuses, and they are fine. I even replaced a couple that I couldn't see thru the plastic good. So no problem there. Do you know which wires should be hot with the high beams?

I would probe both of the wires to tell you the truth. Hook your test light up to the battery and check both of the connectors. Then you will knock out the check for the ground also
