1997 4runner Auto Shifter Is Loose

At the bottom of the shifter something is loose. At the top it has 1/4" left & 1/4" right motion. I popped the plastic console trim around the shifter but did not see anything to tighten. THANKS for your assist!

Maybe you expect too much. This is a normal tolerance for this shifter, unless you have just suddenly found a much looser feel to it.

Thanks for the Rapid Response Brian. The full side to side 1/2" play is not normal to my 97. My wife drives it 95%, thats how I noticed it, feels like a fastener or something where it pivots is loose.
