85 camaro v6

my 85 camaro's temperature guage doesnt work it has the 2.8 v6 i replaced the coolant temp sensor and all that did was fix my electric radiator fan i guess there tied in together there is another sensor that looks like the coolant temp sensor right beside it but i looked on autozone and advanced auto online and all i can find is the coolant temp sensor if anybody knows if the one beside it is for the temperature guage or not and what its called id really apreciate it. also i have an 89 irocz with nice rims and tires that i want for my 85 but on each one it has one that has a key on one of hte lugs but i dont have the key any ideas on how to either get em off without it or were i could find one? thanks.

Re: 85 camaro v6

The key is available throught GM, be ready to shell out some cash. OR if you can get a pair on, very firmly applied vise grips

As the the temp, there is a sending unit for the gauge, usually on the dirvers side with a single green wire. On the 305 and 350 the other sensor to which you refer is the knock sensor, not sure on the 2.8's but usually the General works things universally accross the board.

Re: 85 camaro v6

You have 2 coolant temperature sensors. One for the gauge, and one for the computer. I can't remember which is which.. but there's ones right under the throttle body next to the thermostat. The other one is on the front end of the drivers side cylinder head. Which one did you change out already? The one by the thermostat, or the one on the cylinder head?

Re: 85 camaro v6

call around to NTB, Jiffy Lube, dealerships, etc. and tell them your problem with the lug nuts. most of them should have a universal key kit, and should be able to take off your lock nuts without much hassle. probably charge an hours labor to do it, roughly 70-100 bucks.

Re: 85 camaro v6

depending on the shape of the lock lug.. find a hardened socked slightly smaller than.. and baby sledge hammer it on.. use a breaker bar,,, that would be the cheapest way..ive had to do it a few times with cars i bought and didnt get the key..
