Arrow Audio S-10 Project, what do u think??

Sup everyone? My friend is buying a 88 S-10 off this kid at school and me and him are going to build it up audio wise. I am not that familer with S-10's but i think we are planning on making 2 large sub-enclosures that will stretch from the back to the front of the bed. The sub-enclsure will hold 4 15" subs and 8 8" subs and the other side will be the same. I have built some systems before but this will just be crazy. I was wondering what kind of speakers you would reccomend? And do u agree with this set-up? If not, what would u do?

Thanx

Are you planing on putin a tonneu cover on it??? I suggest you build the box then put it in because when you use the original bed you lose quality and moisture gets to the cones of the speakers. I would suggest you check out the interior and try to put maybe 2 10s inside the cabin they will sound real good. Is it an extended cab or did they make ext cabs back then Hit me back if you need more info!!!

modern subs don't generally require a lot of space, 4 15's should require about 8-12 ft^3 (2-3 ft^s per sub). Do NOT play the 8's and 15's in the same freq range .......... the 15's should run like 20-60 Hz or something like that, the 8's should run 60-150Hz or so - as a midbass, meaning the 8's MUST be in the cab. This also means you will need a 4 way crossover or a 2 way crossover feeding into a 3 way.

Hey paulD if he wanted to save money couldnt he sput like one 8" and one 10" Wouldnt the sound quality be better?? My dad used to own a Mazda truck that had two 10" in the bed. It just mostly provided a thump for people out side the car!!! You seem to be the tech guy can you contrast new tech to old because Im thinking about the same thing he is. except Im gonna do a ext cab and ripout the rear seats and put the subs and stuff back there..

if you have the subs facing the outside, yea - it will just be a "neigborhood sound reinforcement system." If you cut a hole in the front of the bed and the back of the cab and port the sound thru that, it will be like having subs in a trunk or hatchback. A good setup would be 2 8's in the doors - down low and as forward as possible, and then a 15 for the deep bass.

Just curious, how did you plan on powering your original setup?
