Exclamation Center Console

Was wondering if anyone knows how to remove the center console in a 2000 standard cavalier. First of all how do i get the shift knob off. Then how do I remove the entire center section including the armrest and cupholders

To remove the shift knob there should be a U shaped retainer holding it in on the front part of the knob, use a small flat blade screw driver to lift it out.

Console Replacement Chevrolet
Removal Procedure



Open the console compartment.
Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Console in order to remove one of the following components:
The console trim plate - automatic transmission Disconnect the shift indicator connector.
The boot - manual transmission
Remove the screw cover (7).
Remove the screws (6).
Remove the console (2).
Installation Procedure




Install the console (2).

Notice
Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.


Install the screws (6). Tighten
Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

Install the screw cover (7).
Refer to Trim Plate Replacement - Console in order to install one of the following components:
The console trim plate - automatic transmission
The boot - manual transmission
Close the console compartment.

Removal Procedure




Gently pry upward on one of the following components in order to disengage the retainers: For automatic transmission, the console trim plate (1) and disconnect the lighted shift indictor connector.
For manual transmission, the shift lever boot (2).
Installation Procedure




Align the retainers.
Press one of the following components into place:
For manual transmission, the shift lever boot (2).
For automatic transmission, the shift indicator connector, the console trim plate (1).
