Location of battery?? Cost of replacement?? Diffculty to access??

I just replaced my 1998 528iA's battery this morning. It wasn't completely dead, but had too little power to turn the engine over even though all of the accessories still worked...

The battery is located in the rear on the passenger's side. Look in your trunk and you should see a pull tab that opens the compartment to the rear fender well. The battery and the fuse box are located in this compartment (the CD changer would be in a compartment in the same location except in the driver's side rear fender well).

Some say that Interstate makes better replacement batteries than the BMW OEM replacement batteries, but I needed one immediately and the dealer had one on hand. The cost of the battery was $136, but labor could bump you up to about $200.

My original battery lasted just shy of 5 years with lots of city driving and short trips.

1997 bmw 528i cannot pull battery off the tray. Is there a trick to getting the battery out??

Hi I just purchased a new battery for a 1998 bmw 528i from sams wholesale club for $50, they just had to order it that took about 2 weeks. hope this helps
