PCV valve grommet?Help!

I was wondering if anyone would know what to do about getting a new pcv valve grommet that fits into the valve cover of a 2.5l engine since they have been discontinued. The part# on the grommet is 10037288 and I even took this old grommet to the GM dealer here where I live and they told me that it was a good part number but it had been discontinued. The Dorman part# is 493245,the niehoff part# is PV925,the BWD part# is PCV925 and the Motormite/Help! part# is 42310 but every one of these has been discontinued.Actually I would need 2 of these grommets,1 for the crankcase breather filter and 1 for the PCV valve elbow because both of them are the same but I don't know what to do since nobody makes them anymore. Please Help!

Did you try looking on www.rockauto.com ? I checked for a '84 w/ a 2.5 and they list a bunch of Airtex and Dorman part #s.

Re: PCV valve grommet?Help!

First of all thank you for the reply.Actually I did even try rockauto.com.I ordered a grommet from them and they sent me the wrong one. They sent me an Airtex part #2P1002 and I know this has to be the wrong one because the hole is way to big for the PCV elbow to fit into.I bet this grommet is for a V6 Fiero but they didn't start putting V6's into Fiero's until 85 and my Fiero is an 84.Guess I'll just have to send this one back and try to find a decent one at the wrecking yard.

Re: PCV valve grommet?Help!

Try calling their customer service and explain the problem. I see they have numerous grommets available and by speaking with a counterperon there, they might be able to help you locate the correct one and you can possibly exchange the one they sent you for the right one. i had a similar problem a couple of years ago with trying to figure out which part was the correct one, so I called them and got the right one, they were very helpful at the time.

Re: PCV valve grommet?Help!

Cool thanks for your suggestion that was gonna be my next step I guess but at first I thought it wouldn't make much sense to return something that only cost a few bucks but maybe they could get me the right grommet.I hope nobody else is trying to find a grommet for a 2.5 because they are gonna have the same trouble that I am having.I couldn't hardly believe that even the dealer told me that he couldn't even order me one.Guess I will email Rock Auto first and go from there.Take care man and thanks again.

Re: PCV valve grommet?Help!

Try a Fastenal store. They don't deal in automotive parts, but specifically hardware in general. Odds are they have a grommet that fits the dimensions you need, which is the true goal here. Whether or not the grommet was made with the intentions of holding a PCV valve are irrelevant
