1/24 Calsonic Skyline GT-R 2003 Phantom?

Hi Everyone,

I'm taking a break from the Jag XJR-9, and decided to do a quick build (1 week) of this Calsonic Skyline GT-R (bought it from Hobby Lobby for 15 bucks ).

I wanted to do something different than the standard Calsonic car, so I used CF for the hood and roof (just like the new M3 I was actually going for the semi test car look). I also weathered it to make it as if it ran 10 practice laps.

I used Studio 27 PE from Stradasport and CMF Hi-Def. I apologized for the fuzzy pictures (this is definitely an area I need to improve in)

The hood and roof is CF-ed to give a different sense. I also noticed how texturized Hi-Def CF really is, clearcoat, polish, compound can't smoothed it out.

I weathered the wheels and tires and fenders using cotton swab and soft charcoal( I think it looks okay)

The Nissan emblem is from S27, which looks better in my opinion than Tamiya's

The PE set from S27 is excellent, unfortunately the front brake discs did not fit very well and misshapen. I tried blending it in with the kit discs and weathered it

Let me know if you have any comments and critiques. This quick build is pretty satisfying and increases my motivation to continue building the Jag.

Thank you for looking,

I like the look of the hood and roof being cf'd. Looks different but still good in my opinion. Can I ask, does the cf hi-def decal come that dark or did you apply any smoke clear coating over it? The wheel weathering looks really good too. Maybe you could have done some weathering on the sides of the car from the exhausts? Nice build

Gotta love the Hobby Lobby 40% off coupon! I picked up two of the Xanavi's for $12 each!

Nice concept. Those hi-def decals do have a ton of texture to them.

The Hi-Def CF is really dark. I only coated it with future floor polish, it might be a shade or two darker though due to the added weathering to the hood and roof.

Great idea with the exhaust weathering. I knew I forgot something!

Super build. I'm actually looking at motorsports kits as my first ever build. It's currently between the Calsonic 350Z and an older JGTC Supra.

This one has certainly inspired me. What paint did you use for the Calsonic blue?

I believed I used TS-44 Brilliant Blue, which should also be the perfect match for your Calsonic Z. I think the color looks better over white primer though, I used gray primer as a base for this one, therefore the color is not as bright.

Thank you
