Re: Water Gas? Is It Possible?

As a supplemental fuel it can add a teeny bit of mileage and clean up some emissions, but its still in the very early stages of snake-oil. The claims these companies make are just not possible.

But the amount of energy it takes to split water is equal to the amount of energy you get back when it combusts, so it can't really do any good in the grand scheme.

Gasoline starts out at a high state of energy and we burn it as-is. Water is simply hydrogen that has already combusted, so putting water in a tank and asking a car to turn it into fuel is analogous to putting exhaust in your tank and asking the car to turn it back to gasoline to burn.

Yea, the amount of energy taken to split the hydrogen cells from water is far too great. Cost millions if not billions of dollars to produce. I am sure hydrogen power be left as a last resort if no other alternative fuel source is found.

Re: Water Gas? Is It Possible?

It is simply unprofitable to use water as gas because it is very expensive technology
