Lurching engine when slowing down
here' the problem: when slowing down, as the rpm's drop coming to a stop, the engine seems to move, you can feel it "lurch" or seems to drop.
it's a 89' teg...220,000 mi., runs great...so i just replaced ALL three mounts: left front, tranny (right side) and rear mount. while it was worse before i replaced the rear one, it stopped for about a day, so then decided to do the left front, stopped for a day, and now all three are brand new (dealer item). they were all double checked and all are in perfect condition. it's been only a week, what's the problem of the motor lurching still?? the tranny tho' original, runs fine and accelerates real good. it's an annoying problem, anyone else have this problem? |

The ECU will cut-off the fuel, anytime certain conditions are meet when letting off the gas or slowing down. It is/was one of the ways that is suppose to save fuel...
Wheather thats what going on, is another Q tho. What is the idle set at...?

Thanks for the come-back, 88.
i'm not sure what the idle speed is, but it seems normal and moves quickly from the line too. but it's the feeling of the engine wanting to drop or shift forward and that's with all THREE mounts replaced in the last two weeks. it slumps forward just before coming to a complete stop. assuming it's a bad ECU unit, but would that make the motor move? |
