Engine Light when slowing down
My "check engine light" goes on when I slow down from driving between 50-70 mph. Always when I hit the brake or let the car slow down on it's own by pulling off from the gas pedal. Can someone direct me in the right direction?
Also how can I clean/check egr system? Smog check tech told me I have some problems with that system, though I barely passed my smog test. Thanks Charles |

Yes, sorry I left out those important details. I have a 94 camaro, V6, around 140,000 miles on it. Unfortunately OBD I doesn't detect anything or doesn't work, don't know.

Re: Engine Light when slowing down
Yeah problem there is it's an OBD I hybrid, so you can't jump the ALDL pins and need a scanner to get the codes, which would be a wise investment when the funds reveal themselves.
At this point, with out them, it could be anything. A sloppy O2 reading be my first guess. |

Re: Engine Light when slowing down
I thought 94 was still just an OBD I system, 95 was the year they were hybrids in the camaro.

Re: Engine Light when slowing down
94 is when they started crossing over. The majority should have the OBD II style ALDL that cannot be jumped for flash coding and must be scanned for DTCs.
