So no one???

Or is it somewhere else? No one wants to talk about the Lunar Eclispe? Or did cloud cover kill it for everyone? I was out ther entire time till now shooting it. Only finished one shot, will work on a collection of the moon over time. Still, anyone see it. I gues sif you've seen one sure, I never really did. Only partial before.

Re: So no one???

All of my shots ended up being blurred. I don't know what was causing the camera to shake. There was no wind and I was standing away from the tripod. Must be the tripod head then. That's what you get when the parents buy cheap tripods for christmas.

Pretty nice shot you got. This is the best one that I got.

Re: So no one???

Well, this is turning into a photography thread, but what setting did you have? Still not bad, also what body and lens?

Re: So no one???

Nice pics....it was cloudy in my current neighborhood and I was asleep anyway, with a 430 wakeup. I'll have to catch the next one in 2010.

A little photography talk never hurt, but if things get too technical we'll move it over to photography....

Canon Digital Rebel XT
Sigma 70-300mm

Focal length: 238mm
ISO: 100
Aperture: F-5.6
Shutter: 5 seconds
Metering: Evaluative Metering

I'm pretty sure I had the shutter lock-up on too. It is possible that I didn't and this is what caused the blurring. If that is so I'm going to feel pretty stupid for not turning it on.

Re: So no one???

I missed it due to a lake effect snowfall in my area. However on the other side of town it was visible and the 11 pm news ran pics of it as where they are it was clear and not snowing. I guess I'll have to wait until Dec. 2009 to see one in my area again. I am waiting for a solar eclipse in our area. Not sure when that will be again. I remember the one in our area back in '94. I was out mowing a lawn and during the total eclipse it got progressively dimmer outside as if a giant cloud had come over the area, and the light was really muted and gave a weird appearance to everything.

Clouds moved in on the second half so I missed it being white totally. For most of the first half I was at my fiancee's without my gear. Oh well, I got the good part. I just wanted to do a good overall show of the change.

Aniwho, what you should have done and you can try on just a reg moon is ISO 200-400 and a faster shutter. The moon is moving, faster than you think. 5 seconds is a long time. As for aperture, Meh, looks like it would have came in clear but more motion blur. Cheap tripod as well didn't help.

Re: So no one???

Thanks Damien. That was my first time trying to take pictures of the moon too. I will try that next time we have a clear night and a good moon. What was your setup?
