transmission problem

I have a 1998 plymouth voyager with a 2.4 engine and the trany wasn't shifting right between 2nd & 3rd gear so I put some lucus in the trany & now the van doesn't move at all & the fluid is black like engine oil. what should I do?

Re: transmission problem

Is it a 3 speed or 4 speed transmission?

Pull the pan, drain the fluid, disconnect the hoses to the tranny cooler (part of the radiator) if there is one and blow EVERYTHING out.

Replace the tranny filter and fill the tranny with the correct ATF fluid for your vehicle. Chrysler trannys are fussy about stuff like that.

On my '96 with the 4-spd auto, I had a shifting solenoid problem that was overlooked as diagnosed as a bad tranny. It cost about $300 for the correct solenoid fix... would have cost almost $3000 for a remanufactured tranny + Labor.

Lose the Lucas stuff, permanently.
