96 grand voyager rear window washer problem

hi new to the forum, and have a wierd problem that i cant figure out.... have a 96 plymouth GV and the rear window washer doesnt pump out the washer fluid. just got the van 2 weeks ago and I am wondering if anyone has some ideas??? hoping that it is just plugged at the end cause i dont want to take wheel off to change pump. pls help if any ideas or things have happened to others like this in the past... thanks love the site

Fuse, short, open circuit or bad pump motor... check your fuses first.

Then open up the rear access door and test the power leads to make sure you're getting power... if you are, the motor's probably gone.

If you are not getting power to the pump motor, the problem could be anywhere between and including the power input to the dashboard button and the downstream circuit to the pump.

Underneath the van, passenger side, under the washer fluid reservoir are two wires plugged together that provide power to the rear pump... you can see this only if you are lying flat on your back, head underneath the bumper looking up... this is another power junction you should test.

Had the same problem with my van . after checking the wires leading to the small pump , I found the wire internally corroded and no electric power reaching the little pump.

Simply check, replace the corroded electric wire part .

thanks for the help, it turned out the pump was original and had pumped its last washer fluid. checked all the fuses and wiring and everything was good and now dread the fun of fixing it, but thats half the fun of DIY gotta love it... everyone was very helpful and informative and looking forward to helping someone in the future if i am able, again thank you for all the help. bigshooter9270

Do you hear the pump go when you press the stalk ? Do you try pulling the IOD fuse for a couple minutes , yup the bcm controls that thing too and I have people fix it just by resetting the bcm . Probably is a bad pump but it a freebie to try before you go replacing the pump.
