Airbag light comes on

Hi, my airbag light keeps coming on, can anyone tell me why this might be? And I have to bring my car in for an inspection. Does anyone know if a car will pass a MA inspection with the airbag light on, I know that it will if your ABS light is on. Thanks

Re: Airbag light comes on

There are a lot of reasons it might be on. You need to have it scanned with a scan tool that can read the air bag system. If it flashes the light you can get the lamp fault codes by counting the flashes. Light--light---------light -- light will equal lfc 22. let us know what you find out.

Ok, I was able to get error code 41 (crash sensor circuit open wire or high resistance) Do you know if this is a common problem and is there any risk of this thing going off on me. Thanks

Re: Airbag light comes on

I think that is the center sensor on the front of the car. There will be no danger of the bag deploying as the circuit will be disabled by the light being on. Look closely at that sensor and see if there is any corrosion around the mounting or corrosion in the connection. This is the most common fault.

Re: Airbag light comes on

My guess is that this sensor would be located under the bumper and that the bumper would need to come off to gain access to it right?....thanks for your help

Re: Airbag light comes on

Hi there:
Althought the Modertor is on the right track, we're a little off.

Code 41 is a right front sensor problem in a Lincoln Town Car
The only major issue is that for those earlier years, you cannont buy the sensors one at a time. They make you buy the entire set for TRW for about $300.

Questions like this are asked and answered all the time here. There are specific items that are required replacement items when a deployment occurs or when an airbag light comes on...and there are some items that are "check only". Check out this website for the EXACT answers to your questions including fault code charts. This site tells you exactly what needs to be replaced and how to access them (seat belts & all) on over 3500 cars. It's a pay site, but it's little money well spent to get the correct answers and to see exactly what you're after...it uses pictures, not text, so you can see what you’re looking for.

Good Luck...it's not too bad of a job & if your state allows it, used parts or parts from ebay should be ok
