Re: opti spark distributors which one's best

I've heard good things about the MSD, but I don't think they're any better than the factory. The factory optispark is wonderful on the "opti" side (the optical triggering) but not so reliable on the "spark" side.

They also sell cap and rotor kits to refurbish your original.

auto zone sells these MSD opti's it states that it is unlawful to install the msd 83811 opti for street use. do you think it is because it has adjustable timing screw ? +/- 5deg ? also i have read that , the MSD coil , when used with the opti , causes problems with the rotor/cap , because of the increased voltages created....have you installed or own vehicle with this distributor ?

Here's a link to a setup I was considering installing should the Optispark in my Roadmaster fail:http://www.delteq.com/. I was told that the same item is available for about $135 less at paceparts.com.
