Question Ferrari Red...er...orange

I know the topic of Ferrari red is hotly contested, but I'm wondering if I got a bad batch of paint. I decided to try Model Master Italian Red. Both jars looked suspicously orange to me, and after 6 coats, it is still looking pretty orange.

The F430 is painted with Tamiya TS-8 straight from the can. Their Italian red looks very red while the Model Master tends to be orange. Did I get a bad batch or does it really look like this?

In my experience, MM Italian Red has always been rather orange, so I don't think you got a bad batch.

Good to know. How accurate is this color though? I have a sneaking suspicion this one is going end up in the alcohol bath tonight....

MM Italian Red is not accurate for anything, it's just a color Testors named.

TS-8 is much closer to a real Ferrari color...the famous Rosso Corsa when put on over white primer.

Re: Ferrari Red...er...orange

hi guys , there are two red ferrari : rosso corsa and rosso scuderia, the "scuderia" is much more clear, and over the years has changed several times.

ciao

MM's Italian Red has changed shades. Years ago it was rather orange.
The last time i looked it was almost exactly the same as their 'Guards Red'.
I wouldn't be surprised if you got hold of some NOS (new old stock) paint from your lhs.

I bought this from Hobby Lobby. I have guards red as well, and that is definitely red!

After an alcohol bath, it is not painted Ferrari primer...
