Help on prduction colors of the Ferrari 288 GTO

Here I was and thought that all Ferrari 288 GTOs were produced in Rosso Corsa with a black interior. Now I found this on the net:

Does this mean there were other color combinations? If so, which? Does anybody have any pictures of different color combinations or some links? Which yellow represents the one in the picture the best: Giallo Modena (which Tamiya color code would that be?), Tamiya TS-16?

Your help - guys - is well appreciated.

Re: Help on prduction colors of the Ferrari 288 GTO

Well, I am not sure, but during looking for reference photos I've seen GTO's in Black and white colour too.
In Owner's manual for that car there isn't any paint chart, so I don't know.
Red, Black any yellow are factory paints for another ferraries, but what about white? I've remember only Testarosa and 355 in white.

Supposedly all F40's and 288's left the factory in Rosso Corsa but it is an issue that is often disputed.

Well, "supposedly" yes. Officially, no other color but red was offered. As such, all other colors are re-paints.

Re: Help on prduction colors of the Ferrari 288 GTO

Hmm, i remember reading about this 'factory prototype'... after some search, i found a link, seemingly confirming this yellow example.

Not sure if it's 100 percent to be trusted, but as always, the internet's always right. Right?

Re: Help on prduction colors of the Ferrari 288 GTO

Thanks guys for taking the time to help me on this one. All information is well taken.

Taking the auction BigFrit shows in the link a little serious, I wonder which tamiya color would represent "Giallo Fly" the best:
- TS 16 (yellow)
- TS 47 (chrome yellow) This seems to be the color 360spider painted his 348ts with (called it Lemon Yellow though - http://www.italianhorses.net/Gallery...48ts/348ts.htm)
If both colors don´t match well enough, are there any other Spray cans out there which would be an adequate color to serve as "Giallo Fly"?

Wrong...sorry but this is the story :

the 1st 288 GTO (pre-production test car) is yellow with black interior, some special features like racing seat belts (4 mountings) - fire extinguisher equipment...Numberplate is MO 846288 (Modena), chassis s/n 47649
it was last sold in 2003-2004 for 683.000 usd

All the rest of the production left the factory in red (272 cars).

Exceptionnaly the factory made one additionnal car in black for the Sultan of Brunei.

Hi, instead of the Tamiya TS color, you could glance at these Ferrari paints, they have the perfect match of everything you are looking for:

Thanks guys - I know that there is the great Zero Paints (there is obviously a Giallo Fly in the product range). But Iīm stuck with spray cans since I donīt own an airbrush. Any other suggestions for spray can paints getting close the Ferrari Giallo Fly?

Re: Help on prduction colors of the Ferrari 288 GTO

I remember I mixed TS paints when I was painting my 348ts, not mixed them together, but rather sprayed one on top of the other to get that effect. I think I sprayed Camel Yellow first, followed by Lemon Yellow as a top coat. Camel yellow is a bit darker, and made Lemon yellow look "just right".

Re: Help on prduction colors of the Ferrari 288 GTO

I would really expect to see more different colors of 288 GTO shaped cars. the 288 is a popular subject for a 'kit car' style rebody of the 308-328's.
I'm not saying any of the cars mentioned above are those, just for builders to be aware.
