Where did you find that pic, what company produces that vavle cover, and how much is it. I think valve cover is badass!!! Would love to buy it if it is not too expensive. By the way... how well do you think that carbon fiber valve cover will hold up to the temperatures of the motor? Isnt carbonfiber put with fiberglass? Wont it "melt" or something? Or is it just for show? Just wondering. :flash:

Retail value on a carbon fiber valve cover is $800-900.

not me. okay, it is me.

no carbon fiber won't melt. some cf can't hang. i have a civic cf emblem on my hood. it melted. not the emblem but the resin they used has slowly melted away. however, they do make high temp resistant cf. my intake has not received any damage from heat. i have seen some other hand laid CF on valve covers. they stood up to the heat.

Yeh they are pretty expensive. They do not melt from what i've read. Who cares if its ugly. I'd do anything to lose some weight on my car!

1. Carbon Fiber handles head very well.
2. Carbon fiber and fiberglass are similar in that they are made of sheets of wooven fibers and then hardened with resin. Correct me if I am wrong, but the fiberglass cloth is threads of a silica compound (thus the name "glass"). Carbon fiber is carbon, obviously.
3. As far as show or not, carbon fiber is very light weight, and it is what Fomula1 race car bodys are made of. It has a high tensile strength, and being light weight, you could claim it was for performance minded weight reduction. On the other hand, it looks cool.

i almost forgot.....CF hoods! that is a great example of CF not melting under high heat. position it wrong under the hot sun and it will possibly warp shape....but it won't melt.

Yea, i wish I had some money....well also a B16 would help....but damn that is a lot of money for a valve cover, 800 bucks(i know yours isn't selling for that high).

Correct if I'm wrong, which I probably am, but won't that fit on any B series engine? or just the B16? well any B series VTEC...Like I said, I'm probably wrong, but oh well.
