Question Lets See Who Can Make Carbon Fiber Parts

Hey Everybody Out There,

I am really getting sick and tired of seeing these guys driving around town with full carbon fiber hoods and fenders. Now I say, either we get a company to make them for us or we start beating the crap out of them.

I just bought a hood for my 1999 because I am converting it to a street racer slowly. But now I want a kit for my 96' and belive me, only carbon fiber will do. I JUST WANT THE FENDERS, AND HOOD TO BE CARBON FIBER, IS THAT TO HARD TO ASK!!! Well I hope somebody out there is listening to me rant and rave. Also, lets try to find somebody to make us so custom led mirror with a carbon fiber look. Alright I am done for now. Ohh yeah, what the hell is a V2 Supercharger, I know what a V1 is.

Alrighty,

Well, I have been trying to get in touch with a couple of my buddies in So Cal. and they are telling me that there might be a couple of companies that make them but they are totally custom built. Does anybody have some information on companies out there.

Hey,

I'm planning on opening a custom Carbon fiber fab shop here in Scottsdale or (maybe) Mesa. But , as I'm fairly new to the art of carbon fiber fab work I will only be doing cosmetics at first (ie,gauge bezels, consoles, exterior trim, etc.) I'm still putting everything together right now, but might start with some side work here and there if I find some interested customers.

As far as body panels go(hoods and such) you really gotta watch what you're getting. I suggest some research into the subject of how carbon fiber parts are made PROPERLY. Most of the dudes who make and sell hoods are fiberglass guys who lay-up glass hoods and throw on a layer of carbon on top and call it a carbon fiber hood.SORRY. A real CF hood should have some kind of core structure(preferably honeycomb) and a professional hood(or other body panel) would be made of pre-preg and be autoclaved. Getting all this? Do the research.

Benan Industries sells top of line quality hoods for SCCA Pro Solo Racers, but the price is almost twice what most people are paying for the glass hoods with carbon fiber on top. I talked with them last month and I was impressed. I don't think though that they do quarter panels. Go to their web site or call and see.

If you or any of your buddies are interested in finding out if I can make some interior parts for you, let me know. I'm starting to make some molds now for shift knobs and other misc. parts.
