Water inside of door..

So I took my car to the car was today.. After washing I noticed my door seemed wet... I already had the door panel off because I am about to change out the Window Motor and noticed behind the rubber door piece it was really wet.. Should it be that way??

Re: Water inside of door..

Any time you wash a car it is going to get wet.
But the good news is water will dry up and go away.

If water is building up in the door drill a small drain hole in the bottom of where the build up is.

Or clean out the debris from the existing drain slots in the inside of the door skins, near the lower crimps. Open the door and look at the lower edge. See them?

Re: Water inside of door..

After going threw a car wash it could be wet full of water.
Just make sure the drains are clean and working.
If not drill a small hole on bottom so it will all drain out.

Re: Water inside of door..

Are your window door seals/wipers in good condition?
You may get a little water in a door, but not excessive. If that seal/wiper is leaking it will allow all rain, road, carwash water to enter the door skin.

Re: Water inside of door..

Is there a specific name for that horizontal plastic/rubber piece that connects to the outside of the door? That piece keeps coming off and I have to keep pushing it down.. That is what my problem is I believe but I can't find the replacement because I don't know what it is called.

Re: Water inside of door..

These trucks seem to have this problem with the seal pulling off. i see a lot of them like that. I used some automotive glue on mine to keep them on.

Keep the drain hole clean and the water will have a way out. Also if you drill a hole or holes at the bottom of the door, make sure you protect the bare metal or your doors will start rotting out.

Re: Water inside of door..

This is called a window seal/wiper. And I do believe the only place you will get this is from the dealer.
I found a set on E-Bay for my camaro and just did a search on there and there might be something to fit your application, you would have to spend some time looking there.
My ZR2 needed them as well and I could only get them at the dealer.
If it is in good shape and seals good you can re-glue this back on. I would use the black RV cyilcone, pull the old wiper up or off, insert the rv into the slit and re-install.
