Yes, you are getting the R32, but only the two door.
Choosing a VR6 or 1.8t is a very subjective.
And no, no official pictures of the mkv have been released.

Last time I checked, ~1,750 cars will be availible late summer this year, and yet another ~3,200 will arrive next year.
As of now, the first batch will be availible with the manual six-speed (MQ350) transmission

I recently bought this months issue of EVO magazine and they have a group test that includes the R32. Surprise, suprise! IT WON! The competition was a facelifted WRX, an Alfa 147 GTA, an Audi S3, a Ford Focus RS, a Schnitzer Mini, and a Seat Leon Cupra R. The R32 recieved a full 5 star rating and it acceleration specs are listed below (all recorded in the wet).

0-30: 2.0
0-40: 3.4
0-50: 4.6
0-60: 6.4
0-70: 8.2
0-80: 10.6
0-90: 13.3
0-100: 16.3
0-110: 21.0

Quarter mile: 14.8@96mph
Top speed: 154mph

The WRX's acceleration specs were also recorded in the wet and they were faster in some areas than in dry conditions.

Wet

The WRX managed 0-60 in 5.5, 1-100 in 15.8, the quarter mile in 14.3@96mph, and a top speed of 144mph.

Dry

The WRX managed 0-60 in 6.1 and 1-100 in 15.7.

I was very pleased to read that the R32's handling was praised more than that of the WRX or every other car in the test. The editiors called it the best VW in a very long while and said it was the best hot hatch around. Music to the ears of a fellow GTi owner!!!

No, I haven't seen the video, but I am assuming that it was sweet. Typically, the TopGear videos are well done and informative.

I've got a nice video of the car from when I saw it at the Detroit auto show.

Check out http://VW.C3Cars.com

you may need to scroll 3 issues back to find the R32 video or just go to the videos section.
