Sounds like timing. You might have to adjust the idle.

I gotcha back. I'm going to ask and answer my own questions.....if it sounds like you, I know your problem.

1. Does it happen all the time: no
2. Does it happen when the car is cold: not really
3. Are there times when the car won't rev about 2400 RPM: Yes
4. When it is acting up will the car still move...but just feel like it has twenty horsepower: Yes
5. When it is acting up, if you pop the clutch from 3k RPM or higher, will the engine sometimes cut off? Yes

If you follow in line with these symptoms, or even only some of them, you could be in the stages of Air Flow meter failure. Chances are, one of 'em's dead and the other ones starting to go....it will cause a brief misfire and then the car will run fine for a little while, then happen again....etc.

Here's another way to check....since you obviously know what the problem feels like, turn the car off, disconnect both Flow meter connectors, turn the car on. Try and run the car at 2700 RPM. THIS WILL cause the car to misfire (ECU is programmed to cuttoff fuel at 2400RPM if it is getting no signal from the meters).....sound familiar? That's your problem. You could also try connecting one at a time to figure out which one is already dead, and which one is probably going. Even if one is working correctly, the ECU will do the math to correct for the other....so the car will run fine. Let me know how it goes.

By the way....it's probably not adding any good news.....but those meters are about 300 US a piece...and they should be replaced every 35000 kilometers (especially if you're tuning your car)
