Question Horsepower # from CAI/H/C/E 2nd Gen...

My brother recently installed all of the following on his 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS 5-spd manual(420a):

Cold-Air Intake
4-2-1 Header
Mock High-Flow Cat (Basically a resonator)
2.5in. Cat-Back Exhaust

What kinda of horsepower increase should he expect from this setup?
For any of you with the same, what did you run in the 1/4 mile?

Just to let you know, the car ran a 16.8 1/4 mile stock...

I'd say roughly 12-hp off those. Sorry, nt's don't respond to mods very well. Only way to get serious power out of em' is a turbo kit.

I agree, the most I would say he gained is like 20. Deffinately not gonna be a fast 1/4 mile car unless he goes forced induction

f/i coment

Im not sure if the information that I received on the car is correct, but I was told that the actual car that the green eclipse from F&F was modeled after was a 12.X second 1/4 mile all-motor... Again, Im not sure if this is correct, but I also am not sure that the car has no N/A possibilities...

Possible F/I is the cheap (?) way to a faster 1/4 miles.

I don't think its 12's, but that would be on nitrous, which is a form of Forced Induction

Nitrous is an all motor choice. Not forced feed to engine. Sorry has to say that!

Great more smartass's, Its forced induction. Look in a NHRA rule book or something. You can not have nitrous in all motor. Nitrous forces more oxygen into your combustion chamber. Now don't be a dumbass and read up.

Nitrous is not Forced Induction

NHRA Does not consider Nitrous a form of forced induction as far as I know.. If this was the case, most of the "all motor" cars on the track would be considered F/I....

Copied from:
http://208.2.76.252/NHRA%20rules.htm
Quote:
1.6 NITROUS OXIDE

Commercially available nitrous oxide system prohibited on supercharged V-8 engine, permitted on all other engines. Nitrous bottles in driver compartment must be equipped with a relief valve and vented outside of driver's compartment. Bottles must be stamped with a DOT -1800 pound (124 bar) rating and permanently mounted (no hose clamps or tie wraps). Hoses from bottle(s) to solenoid must be high pressure steel braided or FIA permitted hoses. External heating of bottle(s) prohibited.
I also found the exact same information on the NHRA site:

Probably have to go with 12:1 comp pistons to make some nice numbers. That with timing advance and some race gas would be a fine all motor car.
