This may just be a fluke but i told my friend i was getting ready to go snag up a SRT-4 and she told me has went through 3 transmissions(auto). I was just wondering if this is common.

Well does he manually shift his auto? Does he change the fluid and filter on a normal basis? Also the bands in the trans need to be adjusted on an auto to once in awhile. A tranny cooler is a definate plus in an auto.

On a second note the SRT-4 is a manual only so don't worry about having the same problems as him.

I haven't heard of any prevalent problems with the Neon's transaxles. The SRT-4 five speed manual will hold up to what you throw at it. I would only suggest getting a Quaife LSD and a different clutch for that beast.

As for your friend with the auto Neon, does she have it turbocharged? Does she neutral drop it? Power brake? Properly maintain it?

Just remember that the Neon's stock automatic transaxles aren't built to handle the strain that forced induction will add, heavy abuse, or poor maintenance.
