'99 HX Civic BEATS Lexus IS300!!!

Ok, first of all, my 1999 honda civic HX was 100% stock when this happened. second of all, my civic was a manny whereas the lexus was an automatic (the guy didnt use the shift gate either) and finally, this race began at 60 MPH and went on for 1.5 or so miles. heres how it went down...
In my early days of driving, i was aggressive, to say the least. If someone merely looked in my general direction i took offense to it and would gun it. I would also trip-clutch (depressing the clutch WHILE your in a gear just to rev the engine past VTEC threshold then releasing in the same gear) as well as double clutch (keeping the gas depressed while shifting, thus revving the engine). Needless to say, this is not good for your clutch. In any event, after sneaking out one night with a friend of mine, a lexus IS300 came up behind me. i was doing about 60 in a 55 in case we passed a cop (hey, we had already snuck out, no need to push it, right?). Suddenly Mr Lexus flicks his turn signal to pass me. NOBODY passes me. I promptly downshifted to third and nailed it. Not to be outdone, Mr Lexus must have floored it, because suddenly he was right next to me. I quickly responded trip-clutch style, just keeping up with him. Shifting to fourth was a mistake, though. The instant i upshifted he began to gain on me. This warranted several trip-clutchings just to keep up. About this time we were doing 115 or so (99 Civics have high or no governor chip, not sure). Throughout the latter revvs of fourth i began to pull ahead, and i couldnt believe it. By the time i shifted into fifth (at 6700 RPM and 121 MPH) i was a bus-length ahead. from that night on i lost all respect for IS300's (at least top gear accel.) Although i now drive an RSX, i still have more respect for civics.

can't u jus close this before the flames begin?

i guess i'll say my part before it closes...FIRST OFF, tripping the clutch is not wut ur doing. u are TRYIN to double clutch when u do that, but it is pointless in a SOHC VTEC-E. im not going to explain why it is a waste, but it does nothing for ur car and doesn't make u faster. second, even if u rev into ur "VTEC" then its not going to matter. the vtec u have is meant for economy purposes, an isn't going to even make u feel a difference. now, in reference to u saying "keeping the foot on the gas while working the clutch" this isn't double clutching, this is either power-shifting or as a lot of people call it flat-footing. so u an ur "trip-clutching" isn't going to do jack shit, even if u did do it 4 times. ur full of shit, and this story reeks of shit...a stock hx, would be KILLED by an IS300 on the freeway...u'd be the one looking at the back of his car from a bus length. sigh...such a bad story an a bad liar...gonna close it now inferno? or u got something to add? hope i didn't miss anything.

The original post is a prime example of why you should not use drugs. The only reason I am bothering keeping this open is to see if he insists that his story is true or if he confesses that he was bullsh!tting us. You have to admit, it was worth a laugh or two when you first read it.

Why, oh WHY did you have to be driving a Civic!?...

I am soooo ashamed.

Have you ever considered the fact that he didn't want to waste gas/risk his license and/or his life just to show up some punk who got offended by somebody who was just passing him? Don't forget you were only going 60.

oh im gonna reply alright. first of all, thank you for tha info on the shifting there (seriously, eastern PA is no place to learn how to race). also, i know exactly what a piece of shit (performance wise) a civic hx is. fortunately i dont have it anymore-it has gone on to a better life in some junkyard. next, i dont care who believes me. and also, is300's have governor chips at 115. the top speed i ever got out of the civic was 134 redlining, which was not a good idea, because the engine never sounded the same afterwards. i do know that the man i raced had an automatic, but not whether or not it had a fifth gear. i also know that the man happens to care for his car (hence he still has it). i didnt happen to care for mine. as far as witnesses go, yes, i have two, who swear that while i did beat him, it was most likely because i was driving like an ass, like i always do, and that he didnt feel like getting killed at 2 a.m. i, on the other hand, didnt care. oh, and in case youd like to know, heres a quick list of cars i lost to as well...
2002 chevy cavalier LS
2001 dodge neon SXT
1999 VW jetta 1.8T
200(1?) firebird ram-air
(????) chevy impala
(00 or 99) civic Si
199? BMW z3
1996 nissan sentra
1997 dodge ram (yes, the truck)
yet another firebird
...and dozens of mustangs
also, i have a question for you guys. i now have a stock RSX type-S. the BOSE sucks, i hate cassettes, and it wont play CD-RW's, but i cant find a head unit adapter, so im stuck with it. any ideas?

I hate to break it to you, but that is wrong. If you don't believe me, click the link below.
http://lexus.com/showroom/model/is_e...fications.html

If you don't feel like clicking the link, I've posted this from that page.
Top track speed: 143.7 mph

Also, I'm not sure if you are aware of it, but the IS300 would beat most of the cars that you listed that you lost to. Obviously a case of someone posting a non-race or a race where the Lexus driver had assumed he had won and backed off leaving Takimoto to do a fly by.

Sorry but I have to throw the BS flag in too. I am sorry but civics are hella slow when compared to the IS300. The IS300 will own you in any kind of race, even with a poor driver! And as far as your so called trip clutching, that is the biggest BS I have ever heard! I'll shut up now and conserve some bandwith.

IS300 isn't too shabby on the freeway, im thinkin it'd smoke me, so i don't see how an HX could even come close...he wasn't racing.
