Talking Lexus IS300 race/2000 Civic Si gets brave

Ok, so it's been awhile but cause this has been the first week we haven't had rain here. It rained here for 3 weeks straight, so no racing happened.

Ok, a few nights ago I'm headin home from hanging with my good buddie. I'm cruising on the freeway at about 65-70mph, I'm in no rush and it's about 1am. I'm tired and the slow speed saves me gas.

I get about three miles from my exit, and I notice this car coming shooting down the freeway. I pick up the pace to about 75mph, he passes me and slams on the brakes.

A Lexus IS300, something metallic at the rear caught my eye. So I moved to my left in the lane a bit so my headlights would illuminate his rear. Ah, just like I expected he had an exhaust of some sort. Hmm, maybe he's willing to play?

I give her quarter throttle to get next to him. I didn't even get a chance to get next to him before he gunned it. He starts taking off on me so I mash the pedal in 5th gear and roll on into Boost.

85mph I started to get next to him, 90mph I was ahead. I was nearing 100mph and thought that'd be enough but he was still going strong. So I held my foot firm and took her to 110. He's still trying, slowly falling back but still trying.

"Ok, I'll take you to my limitor." Which I thought to that night was around 130mph, I can hit the rev limitor in 5th gear. But, I noticed I went past 130, odd... I think she straight pulled to 140mph. I didn't hit the limitor. I let off before I could, he was about 10 car lengths behind and I was going a bittt too fast for comfort. Hey, it's a 33 year old car with shitty brakes and floaty suspension. You'd probably get unnerved at that speed too.

I let off, slowly apply the brakes... 90mph... I get over for my exit. I roll down the window and give the guy a thumbs up. He cruised on by at 90ish. As I slowed down for my exit...

I need to learn to downshift, I have this habbit of just rolling it on in 5th gear. Which gives me a bit of hesitation, and the other person a bit of a head start.

Ok, same setup as that last race. Just a few days later.

I'm cruising home, A 2000 Civic Si scoots past me on the freeway. He has a larger than normal spoiler and some stickers along the door sill of the car.

After about a minute of debating whether or not I should waste the gas, I pick up the pace to make up the distance. A few miles later I catch him and I'm cruising next to him. It turned into a very slow cat and mouse game throw sparse traffic, never exceeding 90mph.

He'd try to get around traffic ahead of me and I'd just roll on in 5th and stop his advance. This went on for about 5 miles, nearing my exit I figured I'd give him one last chance to go for it.

I was up ahead and he came around a car and got next to me, I dropped to 4th and mashed the pedal. Went from 80 to 110 damn near instantly. Happy with that, I let off. The civic was about 10 cars back.

I don't think he hit it at all. As I got off the freeway, I slowed down to see him go past. He just had a "What the shit just happened " look.

Shitty "races", but oh well. I'll get something good soon... I hope.

I have this sinking suspiscion that the cars in my area are starting to learn not to fuck with me.

Ahhh, that's what you get when you play too rough with the other chillins .

Now go sit in the corner, and don't come back out to play until I say otherwise

LOL, too bad. I was hoping to hear atleast one of the two gave you a decent run. Oh well, better tone things down for a while, eh? Late...

You don't build a car like Mr.RedNeck383 to tone it down anymore than you'd buy a race horse to walk it. If the chillins can't handle the rough play then tough shit. You don't square off with a Koenigsegg unless your stupid and want to see his rear licence plate fade out of sight or know what you have and just want to let the king of the hill know he really isn't king of the hill.

whoa, whoa, no need to come in here and try and bite my head off. I know what he is capable of and you don't have to point that out to me twice. GEEEEZZZ. Just joking around with him.... . Late...

Funds, sheesh I'm about to dump $2910 into the car on brakes and suspension alone.

Hmm that sounds like a modified IS300. I doubt he was stock to be that distance away from you, considering the power that you are putting down. Most IS300's are pretty slow. I've heard of people putting the Supra motor inside of them. If you ran into one of those you'd probably have no room to hesitate though. Good klll.

well they have good low-midrange tq but highway speeds they tend to top out slower since it's got relatively low top end power
BTW i think the IS already has the NA turbo inline 6
