question about running 2 ohms?

alright i got a 12 w6v2 and a viper 600d amp. i was looking at the diagram for the v2
http://www.jlaudio.com/subwoofers/pdfs/W6v2_DS.pdf

and i was looking at diagram b. does that 2 with that one symbol mean ohms?

cuz mine is connected from vc1- to vc2+. this means that i am running 8 ohms from this sub as it shows in diagram a, right?

yes, that will make it 8 ohms

that funny little thing is the greek letter omega ..... used in electronics to denote ohms (resistance or impedance).

it should, wiring it to be 2 ohms will draw more power from your amp to your subs

WTF?
A member of my audio team run a viper 600 at 1 ohm and it is stable. He also hits a 143 with it. All viper amps are at least two ohm stable and the 2500 won't drop below a 1.5 ohm load. I know becuase this is what i run. 1 Viper d2500.1 at 4 ohms and two viper 12.2s with the vcs wired down to 2 ohm and then connected in seris. All this good for a 149.2 in a 91 HB. Exactly what shop do you work at?

i read the manual for my amp and it said that running the amp into a speaker at 2 ohms would give it 400 watts rms. thats what the w6v2 handles at rms. it also says that running the amp into a speaker at 4 ohms would give it 275 watts. i am not even running that so i gotta be running only about 150 or so watts to the sub right now if i am running it into 8 ohms. well thanks for all the help you guys. i am going to just rewire the sub into 2 ohms and see how much harder it will hit. thanks.
