What makes you pick the car that you pick?

[ This is just a chit-chat, opinions thread. please don't get mad if it does'nt help you with anything modeling related, I posted this thread only becasue I'm interested in others opinions]

What makes you pic the car that you pick to build? Is it cuz it's your dream car? Is it because you just like the way that it looks? Is it because you just wanna see what you can do with it?
I pick the cars that I pick because in my opion, these cars are untouchable in thier category...

Lancer V = my favorite rally car
Galant vr-4= ultimate sleeper
Silvia s13 K/s= ultimate drifter (I.M.O)
3 Skylines = Is a reason really necassery to build this car? nope
500cc honda motorcycle = I've always loved bikes

Those are the kits I have, along with the reasons why I chose them. Now it's your turn, why did you pick that car that you are building right now???

I have a feeling this is gonna be a multi page thread...

First reason I pick a car: Is it a rally car? Do I have it
Second: Is it at least a race car, does it look interesting, decals look interesting?
Third: Is it a Tamiya/ Hasegawa kit?

Main: If I get that model, is it going to be one I will enjoy building?

I don't see the point of getting a kit I'm not interested in

I usually look at the price and if the car looks good.

My first model was a USDM iTR, the things that inspired me to get it was i just liked that car, and my second model was a S2000, i got that one cuz i just liked it too, now my current project is a EG(92) Civic HB, i just ordered it, it inspired me cuz i wanted to make a JDM Spoon EG. Wanted to make it a "Sleeper", but with some outer looks too.

build quality is a plus, but i mainly go by the picture on the box (at least in revell/amt's case. as for tamiya, i don't mind because tamiya is tamiya)

Quality and price are main factors for a buy me - I get sucked in to a great deal!!

But, another reason I pick the cars are do...well, to be honest...these are cars I would love to own or at least drive at some point in my life. Of course, I can't say that I'll own a Ferrari, but who knows - hopefully I'd at least get to drive one!!! Modelling - an outlet for my dreams??!! :silly2:

Hi, I think I pick the models based on how good they look and whether i would like to own a real one.

I really dont look at the price because if that was a factor, i would end up building all these crappy revell muscle cars. No offense to those builders that enjoy them, but their lack of detail and overall "same look" don't appeal to me.

Another decision maker is my girlfriend. Because we live in an elegant house and i keep my room pretty much black and white (Italian black marble w/ white swirl floors with mirrors pretty much all around the room) she says only "sharp" looking models. Atleast thats her excuse to me. But i think her real choice is whether she just likes them or not.

Anyways, I've been looking for a MB E55 1/24 kit but i can't seem to find any of them. If you know where I could get one I would very much like to know.

Thanks

Not to be silly or anything, but.......... e. All of the above. All of the previous statements hold true for me. This hobby, and RC Cars, is my outlet for the car bug. I would love to be rebuilding old cars or modding new ones, but I don't have the space or money. So static models, RC Cars and video games allow me to feed the need.....

Inspiration. If I've seen a real car that looks good I'll try to get it as a model, I don't favour any brand of maker over the other but I only prefer Revell because they are the only manufacturer that makes the beautiful old muscle of America. I don't care about mold lines, flash etc, gives me more to put into the model that way. I don't mind price, but if I don't have enough at the time I will be extremely dissapointed, like I saw an old prostock limited run model from Monogram, but it was $70, I only had $65, walked home very dissapointed in myself. I base what models I get on if I want that car in real life, there is more inspiration to get it done and to do a better job on it that way.

Quite often I buy models because I have fond memories of seeing the real car racing or being reviewed on television programs. The rest of the time I buy them because I like the look of them. Also price does not matter for me because if I want the model then I want the model and I'm not too fussed about how much I have to pay for it. I definitely wouldn't buy a model just because it was cheap.
