first time no high?

It was really starting to bug me that i didnt know the answer to this question; Why, for a person who smokes marijuana the first time, do they not get high? Of course, as they smoke more later, they will get high. But, not the first time.
Why is this? Im looking for a scientific reason, so, this thread isnt about the joys/dangers of weed. Just, a curiosity i have.

First time I smoked it I got pretty stoned... I used to smoke an awful lot when I was younger, but I grew out of that eventually

I would say on a scientific basis, you have to absorb enough THC to get stoned. If you don't get enough in your system, it's not going to affect you.

Then again, your first time smoking, you might not know you're stoned

I was kinda messed the first time, nothing major though. However, what I DO remember was that I had the paranoia like a MOFO!!

The first time I ever smoked weed, I recall feeling nothing except a hugh craving for something to quench my cottonmouth. I did not feel high though.

That was the only time I have ever tried it though. To this day I have no Idea what the kick is for smoking pot. My brother has smoked it for a long time and he can't explain it to me either.

I have been offered to smoke it many times, but I just stick with my old stand by BudLight

We also have mandatory piss test's at work so I could not do drugs even if I wanted to.

I once smoked it quite a bit- I didn't get that much of a buzz at first- although different weeds give a different buzz

The first time I smoked was the best. I was totally baked... whoever came up with the idea that first-timers don't get high is full of crap. Laughed my ass off for about an hour, then watched Suburban Commando (Hulk Hogan movie that totally sucks) and laughed some more... Ate a big tub of popcorn and spilled coke (as in the cola) all over myself.

And, no, I don't smoke anymore (because it triggers bad panic attacks).

Can't give a scientific explanation as to why. But for me, at least, being stoned is night and day when compared to being drunk. I did not feel it until perhaps my third time. It is a much more subtle high, and unless you are expecting that, you may not notice that you are feeling different. What may happen is that if you smoke a butt-load, you will finally notice that your thoughts are just not processing as quickly as they normally would. But, weed generally just helps perpetuate a very soothing, relaxed frame of mind and body.

yeah im not really one for weed but oil is way better much more relaxing and no paranoia

Or just the opposite. You might think, "Oh, I'm smoking weed, I'm gonna get high." And then you might act high just because you think you are, when in fact your really as sober as a 80 year old librarian.
