Question 97 Cavalier Kyeless Remote Programming

We have recently bought a new keyless entry remote for my 97 Z24 and we need to program it. We need directions for programming it for use.

I have a 97 Cavalier, I bought it last summer and bought an alarm and keyless start with it. When I needed it programmed I got the info from the store that I bought it from. Go to the store you got it from and they should be able to hook you up with it.

97 Cavalier Remote Programming

1. Turn th ingition switch to off
2. Jumper program connector terminal A to terminal B "door locks will
lock and unlock in approximately two seconds"
3. Press lock and unlock button on one transmitter. Door locks will lock and unlock in approximately ten seconds. The RFA Module is now programmed for the first transmitter.

4. Repeat step 3 using other transmitter if you more than one transmitter.

5. Disconnect jumper from program connector.

Hope this helps you out.

BTW The door lock receiver module is in the trunk on the drivers side. The pins are labled from A thru J 16 total. Make sure you just ground A and B together.

Unhappy Didn't Work

My husband has tried your suggestion several times and it did not work. The car never locks and unlocks the doors in order for him to click the remote. Any other suggestions?

I will see if I can find a picture of the connector at work and post it here. As long as the keyless system is a factory one this program procedure should work.

I was wondering if I could get some direction on finding the pins in my trunk. I looked everywhere and don't see anything that seems to be it. I bought a new keyless off ebay and my car had it before (97 Cavalier Z24). I thought maybe the Z24 might be different. I know that once you ground A and B you can program a new remote, but I can't find the pins in my trunk. Any help would be apopreciated (pics???), The dealers here want 80$...no way!!
Thanks,
Sean
