Whats everybody using for home made decals?

Is everybody using the Blank decals sheets that you can print on, then coating them with a decal sealer? White or clear paper?

That is what I plan on doing. Although they do make different variations of it. I know in the US you can just buy decals(decal paper) that you would put on a car so I don't think you would need to do anything else to it after.

Clear decal sheets and ALPS MD5000. It's not as good as a laser printer, but it still works. Occasionally, it acts funny, so I might have to take that to the service, or buy a new MD5500.

What I'm interested in knowing is, for inkjet decals, can they be used with decal solvents at all, or will the ink bleed out like nobody's business? And will the ink fade over time? I looked at some of my old paper printouts and noticed that the black ink has totally disappeared. And they weren't even in the sun.. they were in a dark cupboard for 3 years.

Also, check your local rail road model store. It's scratchbuilder's heaven.
