new eclipse gs

may i say that the new gs is extremely slow. i have a 1985 celica, which i paid 800 dollars for, drove it to town the next day, and raced a brand new gs and completely blew it away. why would anyone waste their money on those pieces of crap? sure they CAN be fast if you have enough money, but as can any other car.

Not to be rude, but congratulations, you raced and beat what is (most likely) a 140 horsepower automatic. Now I don't know the specs on the old celicas or the new ones, but I would venture to say that your car probably only really turns out about 150 horse. But the real difference is the automatic/manual issue. I used to drive a 94 galant GS, 160 horespower and could easily beat V-6 auto mustangs which have 200+ horsepower. So the issue at hand is why any one would buy and automatic. And I can't answer that for you But don't get me wrong, I am not a fan of any non turbo mistubishi "sports" car.

Peace

neither am i , and i drive one but anyways, two nights ago i raced an early 90's celica that was definitely modded (exhaust and air intake from distant look) with an aluminum wing. This fool tried 3 times to blow past me and all three times i as able to pull next to him, give him a stare, then take off... supposedly, the new eclipses are faster than the '97 i drive (i am not sure though), so us automatic gs non turbo eclipses aren't AS slow as you might think... but i would still like my turbo...

well, it was a manual. as is mine. he was redlining his gears. i wasnt. and my car is better than even the new celicas. they run 15s in the quarter mile. thats horrible for 23k. yes my car does pump out around 150 horse. mine is better than the new celicas because it was the last year they made rear wheel drive. i also have a sport traansmission, which helps.
