can't chirp in 2nd

for everyone with the D16Z6 motor, i want to know what rpm you shift at when racing. the redline in my car is at 7200 and usually shift at 7000. im asking this Q because i've been having problems chirping when shifting from 1st to 2nd. i use to be able to do it all the time until i put on my exhaust and 15in Si wheels. my car also recently had valves adjusted, new timing belt, water pump, and spark plugs, and i still cant chirp in 2nd. whats wrong and when should i shift.

the 15s might be a bit of a problem, but shouldn't be. Maybe you're just not giving it the same amount of gas as you used to when you shift into second. Make sure you still have the RPMs up when you let the clutch out after hitting second gear.

What does chirping prove though? That you're a great driver? Chirping is useless and proves that you don't have enough traction or lack skills in engaging the clutch/tranny smooth. Doing this enough time will just wear out your tranny and engine quicker.

sorry just had to do it. im so sick and tired of people with stock civics that arent even Si's thinking they have fast cars. i have a lot of friends like that and a lot of people on here like that too. i have a 15 yr old volkswagen scirocco 16v and i whoop on them all day but they still talk shit. its very annoying.... by the way, just got that car. has only 60k miles and full wide body kit, bbs 3 piece rims (7in front, 11in rear!!!) and a full neuspeed suspension. i can outhandle a porsche in this thing.

p.s.
i have beaten a porsche around a turn in this car so dont even try to flame me for that!!!

Yes, I've beat lots of fast cars with my sohc cars and I'm not dissin' on him. If you're just gonna post useless shit flaming people and not help then please don't even bother posting. That's nice that you have a fast car but being an ass and posting crap that doesn't help isn't cool.

as i see it im not the only one on here posting stupid shit flaming others. and if you didnt read my last post it would show you i wasnt trying to flame the guy. and i do know there are a lot of sohc beasts out there but they are rare. also i think my first post did help. i said for him to get a new engine. that would help him chirp 2nd a lot easier!!!

i know my car isn't fast, i just thought that making ur car chirp means that you are shifting faster than when it doesn't. and i hear that non vtec d15 and d16 could do it, why cant i since my motor is stronger than theirs? i had a friend who knows how to race and he can't do it either. my mods are i/h/e/pulleys/short shifter

A new engine still doesn't prove anything. Does it prove your manhood? Does it prove you are a bling bling racer? A new engine does not guarentee you would be able to chirp - just that you are stupid enough to think so.
