Question RPM 95 Civic ex

Hey, I'm sorta new to the civic area. My 95 civic ex coupe is stock for the most part and I was curious what are the extreams to take the engine? How high is safe to rev the engine, is up to 6600 super hard on it? I was also curious where the vtec kicks in. Going over 4,500 just sounds so painful on the engine!

Thanks!!

For the most part just keep your RPM's low unless you want to push it to the limit, and stay away from redline. Since you're new to the import scene, though, i'll give you some advice.
1. No alteeza taillights
2. no big bomb mufflers(just buy a full exhaust)
3. stickers are ok but don't go crazy
4. no chrome rims
5. ALWAYS buy brand name parts because everything else hasn't been through testing and usually makes your car slower
Also you can go through Apex'i and get a V'TEC controller that lets you set the RPM level for it to engage, but I'm not sure exactly what the stock setting is on it.

Here's my advice...
1. Do what you want to do with your car, and don't let other people's views and opinions influence your own. Afterall, it is your time, your money, and your car.

Shut the fuck up! Don't tell people what to do with their car, mind your own business.

And about your question, I personally don't think there's anything wrong with hitting redline, I do it probably 5 times a day. The only thing that I don't like to do is go up to redline slow, for some reason my motor sounds funny when I do that, so if I take it up at a steady quick speed to redline and be sure to shift right when I hit redline, then it's fine.

do wut u want w/ ur car. however IMO VTEC controller is going to be a waste of money, simply because the VTEC doesn't pull very hard in the SOHC motors. its around 5k stock (lol, dunno for sure either). but as for the rest of it, do wut u want to the car man...its ur car, u have to drive it everyday, so do wut makes it look nice in ur opinion. good luck w/ ur new project an keep us updated.

me to if not more car runs fine.
i won''t comment on the vtec kicking in(cause i don't know fo sure) but i'll guess around 5400rpm

if you search around their is a how-to on installing a vtec l.e.d which will light up when vtec kicks in. in my opinion it's kinda annoying (on off on off ) however it's a great *cheap* tool for monitoring your engine to see if your vtec is working. i would suggest mabye mounting it in your glovebox if you do do this..

happy civic building :alien:
