Photoetch Help
Just got the photoetch kit for the R34 from Studio 27, after seeing 360modena's fantastic work on his R34. Had a few questions, let me show you the instructions/sprue first:
![]() ![]() ![]() First the wipers, I assume you have to bend them to a 3D shape? The two flaps on the side, and the blade itself? Second, for Part 9 (the emblem) what are the instructions saying (for those versed in Japanese)? Do they want me to cut the tab of metal off? Third and lastly, anybody have any helpful tips for assembling the hood pins (18 and 19)? Thanks!! |

Daggerlee,
This may not sound like an exact answer, but I found that combining the Studio27 instructions with some of the ones on the www.ScaleMotorsport.com website helped me, they have some of their instruction sheets publised. I think in the 'other' section and they detail how to fold the wiper blades, hood pins and some other parts in there, not the same P/E sets, but still useful. Ray

My guess for emblem 9, is that you bend the metal tab back 90 degrees and glue the tab down so the GT-R stands up.

looks like you didn't make it. Anyways, buy/grab a cheap white cotton kitchen apron, put the neck loop over you neck (duh!) sit down at your table and attatch the front edge of the apron, up under the lip of the table. That way, if you drop any parts, they are caught in the apron. Just remember to take the apron off before you stand up as you'll find you are now "part" of the table!

Well, I know when cutting PE, you should tape the PE to a piece of glass so the parts don't go flying off. And for the glass trick, fold the part over the side of the glass with the razor blade to make a nice and sharp 90 degree angle. Am I right?
![]() Bill, sorry I couldn't make it to the chat. It was getting late. :buck |
