It seems you're asking whether or not an Altima GXE auto can beat a Max 97 GXE, if so, the Max will destroy the Altima.
The Altima in that year only has 150 hp and 150 torque. You have 190 hp I think and if not yours is at least 160 plus it's a V6, the Altima only has a 2.4 4cylinder.

Race him and hand him his @$$, he'll never try it again.

you would kill him, Altimas are pretty slow unless they are heavily modded. BTW, 4th gen maxima have 190hp and 205t at the crank. Which really doesn't say much for actual power its more like 160hp 170t at the wheels. If that.

it's kind of like asking what would win a base sentra or a base altima? a base civic or a base prelude. it really doesn't even really require an answer

Actually it does require an answer, I mean just look at the post by JB stating that a 2.5 Altima, which is .1 litre bigger than it's previous gen, but is also bigger and heavier than a Max and the previous gen Altima, states that the 2.5 Altima will smoke a 2k auto Max with 222 hp which is smaller and lighter than the Altima.

Go figure, I don't blame him for asking, there are a lot of people who still don't either recognize or respect the Max's potential. Just go over to the org and read the thread "It's only a Maxima." This will explain to you what people who don't know of our car thinks of it.

Sadly though about the posts on this forum is that people who know the Max still claim their car can beat it.

It was a good question, especially in light of the fact that he just bought the car.

Nissan vs Nissan

:smoka:
Guys jsut for the record......size does not matter in tis instance. 6cylinder vs 4 cylinder is not as out class as you might think. The subaru WRX-S ralley is a 4 cylinder and pushes 230hp. This is a crutch rocket. The new Lancer pushes 260hp out of a 4 cylinder. The performance is on the technology of the engine not just the size. Don't believe me, ask any honda civic owner with V-Tech engine. Honda has cornerd the market with this technology. Hi-tech valve control and some and other stuff mixed with slick weight managment makes Honda a street racers choice for a pure adrenaline rush of the starter line.

No one was simply going on size of engine or car alone but rather facts, the WRX has a Turbo so yes it should and does push that 230 hp you're talking about but take that Turbo off and the stupid thing is just a weak @$$ lil engine that used to go into the other lil car (forgot the name of the car) they had it in before they bothered to bring the WRX off the rally racing circuit.

Besides we're not talking turbocharged cars here and if we were then let's go ahead and Turbo the Max while we're at it and then we'd be able to make a more adequate comparison.

Most races between cars of equal stature and comparison usually would come down between the driver and not the car.

This case is an open and shut case, Navy has a Max, his friend has an (previous gen at that) Altima, there's no way in hell until recently that Nissan was going to build an Altima faster than it's flagship sedan.

The only way you can get an Altima that's faster than a Max now is to buy the 3.5 Altima and that engine comes from the Max.

To my boy Navy, just go out and smoke his @$$, I just ran away from stop to stop on my friends brand new 2.5 Alty yesterday, he was with me til 30 and then the VQ went to work, it was at least 7 cars between us and we ran 5 times just to make sure there was no fluke.

I'm tired of answering these kind of questions because people tend to lose focus and start talking about all other things instead of the threadline. Race him and hand his @$$ to him and he will be wise to never challenge you or any other Max on the road again.
Period
