Recall Notice

Just got it today.
"This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Nissan has decided that the 2001-2003 model fourwheel drive Nissan Frontier and Xterra..."
The problem is the ABS sensor in the rear axle is letting water leak in.
Anybody else get one of these??

Perry

Whoa.

Mine is recalled for both the ABS and the Supercharger problems.

Supercharger ECM Programming:

VIN: 5N1MD2*T*2C500000 - 541754
VIN: 5N1MD2*Y*2C500002 - 541766

Quote:
Under certain conditions, such as full throttle (when the accelerator pedal is fully depressed) in low gear when the engine is not fully warmed up and at cold ambient temperature, the engine malfunction indicator lamp may come on and the engine speed may be severely limited due to programming of the engine control module. If this occurs unexpectedly, it could lead to a crash.

Rear ABS Sensor

VIN: 5N1*D2*Y*1C500002 - 599014
VIN: 5N1*D2*Y*2C500002 - 606344
VIN: 5N1*D2*Y*3C600010 - 630463

Quote:
Water may enter the rear axle housing due to inadequate sealing of the ABS sensor in the axle housing. This may result in corrosion and eventual failure of the wheel bearing. If this occurs, the wheel assembly could separate from the vehicle and result in loss of control of the vehicle and a crash.

What bastards. They said that even though my VIN is indeed in the range they will not service it until I get the "official letter" from Nissan.

Ohwell, I got them to document the problems on paper and sign themselves as responcible if something bad happens to me and/or the Xterra due to those problems. It's nice to have lawyer friends to draft things like that.

*snicker*
