Seriously Need Fiber Glass Help!?!?

Ok, hate to post a second thread on this...but,

I need fiberglass info! How do I work with this stuff? What kind do I want? How does it take paint? basically how do I build body kits with it and paint it to match?

Any info, links, anything...would be great.

I have a great source to buy the stuff mucho mucho cheap, trick is I just cant find any info on building with fiberglass without a mold or something ridiculous, huge, and expensive.

Need to build bodykits, good ones, don't have a mold, wanna know how.

thanks,
-wheel

again, sorry for the double thread.

what markpa is true i would have made millions already if it was that easy to make kits. you have to start small, learn how to lay the glass, then learn to make molds, the waxing and then sanding fillin and other crap. its not just lay glass, then sell.

you dont need info you need experience and lots of time.

someone at some point had posted this link http://www.geocities.com/silverkit98/BodyKit1.html and it roughly explains how to do it, sorry that's the best I can do.

to start fiberglassing you need to go to any autoparts store and look for something callled fiberglass resin. it comes in a container witha pop off lid with a tube of hardener under the lid. the hardener acts as the catalist in the fiberglass, it will tell you how many to add to however many onces you are looking to mix. that is just the chemicals. also need matting, which you cut into the shape of what you need and apply the glass. you need bbrushes to apply the fiberglass to the matting, try to get one that doesnt shed the hair things. other things like a container to mix it with the onces marked on the side and a stiring stick are common sense. buy extra hardener. sometimes they dont give you how much you really need. the rest is all experience, as i said before in this thread you also need a lot of time.

No see there's the problem I really dont know shit about fiberglass, outside of it smells really bad and aint easy to work with.

If you saw that geocities article that tynebeach posted that's my plan of attack. Make a styrofoam mold and go from there.

Now do I need: matting or cloth? what is this putty they speak of in that article, dude says lay the fiberglass over the mold then use the putty to make the final shape...huh?

Essentially, I wanna get to practicin on this now. I've got about $6 G's and a few weeks lined up in the spring to put in a new motor, get a paint job, new suspension wheel, and exhaust. So I wanna have some sort of body kit to put on what should be one wicked cool 5th Gen hatch by june, hence all the posts.

So yeah, I got's lots of time to practice with the fiberglass, I just graduated college and they dont hire teachers until fall, so I've got the time. just need a lil help on the info.

thanks again all
-wheel
