Hey all,
I am about to start the decals on my Lancia Stratos kit, but before I start I wanted to check one little thing..... Are Hasegawa decals safe to use MicroSol and MicroSet on? Most of the kits I build are Tamiya and I know not to use the liquids on them, but what about Hasegawa's decals? The last thing I want to do is ruin the decals using solution on them when they are sensitive to the stuff like Tamiya's decals are. Thanks for the help all. Ray

Should be no problem, I used Micro Sol on the same kit with no problems at all.

The decals in that kit and 037 are not the same as the ones in kits like the Focus WRC. The Lancia Decals are very thin and when dried they had a very rough and wrinkled surface compared to Tamiya. I thoroughly recommend going to ahobby shop and purchasing some Microscale Liquid Decal Film. Just brush it on with a good soft brush over the decal sheet, it shows no brush marks whatsoever and is very transparent but smoothes out the decals and makes them look better. Also if you wax those decals without putting this on the colors in the stripes rub off pretty easy. You won't be sorry you coated them.

Ray, I haven't used any Hasegawa kits, but I do make my own decals, so maybe I can help out some. 935k3 mentioned recoating the decals. I use Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Coating 1303A to coat my decals from my inkjet, and it seems to work well. This stuff is also compatable with Model Master's Decal solutions, but I'm not sure about Microscale. You can get that Krylon at Walmart for about $2 I believe (here at least), and from micromark for $4-6 (they sell it as Decal Clear). This should serve the same purpose as the stuff mentioned above.

Thanks for the advice guys
![]() John, I already have some liquid decal film so I will use that I think ![]() 953k3, Thanks for the tip, these are the first Hasegawa decals I am working with, so I am thankful for your advice. If you have built this kit, perhaps you have some tips for fitting the body to the chassis? Del-R and Vric, I was hoping you would both reply, as I know you are busy with the same kit Del-R and I know Vric has built some Hasegawa kits ![]() I think I will give the decals the extra coat of liquid decal film and then be very careful with the MicroSet, does that sound like a good plan? BTW, 953k3, would you happen to have a photo of the Stratos kit completed if you have built one? I have your 037 thread bookmarked for future reference when I get to my 037 kit. Thanks for the help guys. Ray

little thing.....
Are Hasegawa decals safe to use MicroSol and MicroSet on? Most of the kits I build are Tamiya and I know not to use the liquids on them, but what about decals? I used the Sol and Set on my BMW touring cars from Hasegawa's and the decals did not like it at all. The decal just lifted off after a day or two as soon as it was touched...it didn't want to stick at all

P-Man
So are you saying the decals didn't adhere because of the Microsol and set or they just wouldn't adhere? How did you get them to stay in the end then? Has anyone else had the problem P-Man is talking about? Thanks Ray

I then got some solution from the model shop a few days later and used it on the main hood decal and side numbers. They did not adhere to it at all...they are only just hanging on in place. I can get a soft wet brush and start on one corner and it lifts the whole decal back up as one big piece
