The 1/12 `67 Corvettes are painted; in progress pics and question inside...
Here are pics of my 1/12 scale 427 Vettes that are waiting to be rubbed out. The one was sprayed with plastikote primer, then about 10 coats of duplicolor yellow, followed by about 10 coats of TS-16 yellow. I found that red plastic is really hard to cover, and yellow is the hardest to cover it with.
The other one has about 10 coats of duplicolor Bordeaux red followed by about 12-15 coats of clear. Since these are so big and I probably wont build anymore this size, I wanted them to be perfect. So, which one dlo you guys want to see first? The yellow one will have the black stinger on the hood with the stock turbine wheels. The red burgandy one will have rallye wheels similar to what was on my 1/12 scale Camaro, and the black stinger on the hood.

The clear used on the red one was dupli-color. It rubs out very well, and is really cheap.
1 yellow, and 1 red vote so far.

BTW, how many cans of TS-16 did you use?
Do you polish the duplicolor paint at all before applying the duplicolor clear?

So far, I used 4 four cans of TS-16 if I recall correctly. I am going on my fifth. I could have gotten away with 2 or 3, but I screwed up the panel lines and had to wetsand an repaint it. I`m a little concerned about wetsanding though, since this stuff is so translucent.
I didn`t polish the dupli color color at all. I dont think I even wetsanded before the clear coats, though I did sand in between the 6th and 7th coat of clear. |

How makes this kit, as it look very good

Monogram makes it, and yes, it is a very good kit. It seems to have excellent detail, and the proportions are almost perfect, except for the tires, which are a little on the skinny side.
It`s kinda hard to find this kit now though. I think it was made in the late 80`s/early 90`s, and was realeased along with two other excellent kits, the `69 Z28 Camaro and `57 Chevy BelAir, in 1/12 scale. |

First of all, thanks everyone!! You`s all are too kind!
All I did was hold the spray nozzle down so far, though. That maroon color (the red one) for some reason came out really "deep", like a candy color. I highly recommend trying it. Actually, the pictures look quite dull compared to the real color, and I was kinda disappointed the first time I downloaded them from the camera. So far I count 3 red (Maroon) and 1 yellow? I guess I`ll start with the red one first then, and primer the bottom and then do the typical overspray of the body color like they came from the factory. I started assembling the engine block tonight, and I`ll primer that as well tomorrow. Quote:

I've checked vette catalog book. it says 'Marlboro Maroon'. but I'm sure your color is more splendid than that. anyway, I really look forward to seeing this last C2 finished model and big block 427 heart.
