50th Ann. Corvette, 427?

They just showed this thing on speed vision, it looked like a Z06 but it was gold and the side panels were like a metallic blue. It said Chevrolet was selling this limited model with a 427 V8. 50th Anniversary badges all over it. Is there any info on this thing on the internet? It said it had 500 hp.

Corvette has already produced its 50th Anniversary Car. Its a base model Corvette (w/350hp).

Fairly dissapointing.

yeah I know

I sat in one at the autoshow in DC, very pretty and easy to get into.

But this doesn't dissappoint, check this out.

http://www.corvettethunder.com/car-corv.htm

Man that is one expensive Corvette. 49,000 PLUS the price of a Z06. Thats like buying two Z06's, over $100,000. If a person had that kind of money they must be asking themselves, hmm 500 hp V10 Viper, or 500hp Corvette....tough call.

Why does he need it to be the cost of Two Corvettes? a Base and a Z06?

All he does is modify a Z06... I dont think the price should be over 75K if you ask me.

A Z06 with a 427 making 500hp isnt worth 100k.

A Z06 worked over by Ligenfelter making 600+hp is worth 80k.

Just how I see it.

Yeah I know it shouldn't be over a 100,000 that isn't worth it. You could do it yourself for like I don't know, $10,000, $20,000 more then what you pay for a Z06, or 50 Ann. Vette. Which would end up bringing the price around 70 or 80,000.

actually, the base retail price is $49,330. Guldstrand only suggested it be that much. And since his suggestion is so pathetically overpriced, I'd be willing to bet he was out drinkin' or hittin' the vtec again. That bastard.

Just thought I'd add this.

Guldstrand also announced the suggested retail price of the Signature Edition package will be $49,330 plus the cost of a 2003 Z06 Corvette.

He wants 50k to put in a 427... over priced.

Just give me a Ligenfelter TT LS6 Z06. Makes more power, weighs less and still retains the 50/50 weight distribution. Oh yeah, It's cheaper.

Guldstrand is probably hoping that there are still at least 50 people who give a damn that he drove the original Grand Sport Corvette at Sebring.

Honestly, the man has no taste in styling, as evidenced by this C5 makeover and the one he did for the C4. His "performance modifications" could be done by any half-competent race shop for half the cost. And Guldstrands have no collectors value since there's no real recognition on the tuner name. Lingenfelter and Callaway have recognition (even if Reeves is a bit loopy), so their cars sell both before and after modification. Dick Guldstrand might as well be your neighborhood tinkerer as far as the collectors market is concerned.

Oh well. The C6 is right around the corner. Here's praying for an LT-5 revival. Viper nothing! Vette should be gunning for Aston Martin, Ferrari, and Porsche. Le Mans is only a few months away, boys, and Prodrive (with a little help from Signor Montezemolo) is saying that the 575 Maranello GTS has its reliabilty bug worked out.

wel shit, if your gonna spend an ungodly amount of money to put in an ungodly large engine, why not just put in a 528? or what was it, 571 or something crazy is the biggest iirc? Yeah. Then supercharge it.

I don't know you think the Vette could handle a real big engine like that? He picked the 427 V8 because the Corvette has its history with the engine. The Stingray 427 Corvette.

You would think for an 50th Anniversary car Chevrolet would of dropped a 427 in the new Vette anyways. Nope, they just create a rare color scheme, 50th Ann badges, and jack the price up to almost the price of a Z06. Sure it is pretty but the only thing special about it is the Magnetic Ride control thing. Big deal thats probably going to become standard in Corvettes from now on anyways.

Yeah that would be the first year price jack. Anytime a car comes out with something new the price gets jack for the first year.

black red

that 427 is a small block not a big block like the 427 (L72 iron block or L88 aluminum block) and check car and driver for the lingerfelter corvette and sonoma both twin turbo small block 427s with 700+ horses the vette 1/4 was low 12s and the sonoma was mid 10s
